Hot toys 1/6 MMS 81 Harvey Dent / Twoface Review

Up today and next is one of my favourite villains from the world of batman...Twoface AKA Harvey Dent. I'm covering the Hottoys version of this great figure in his 1/6 glamour.

This is gonna be a memorable post for me as i wrote this draft on my hospital bed while waiting to go for a minor operation on my back sigh... anyway back to the review

Twoface is played by Aaron Eckhart in the movie the dark knight.
A little back story of this cool villain : district attorney Harvey Dent is hailed as the white knight of Gotham city as he together with allies Batman and commissioner James Gordon brought crime rates in Gotham city down at an unstoppable pace and Dent was a hero in the eyes of many.

That is until the Joker stepped in.
Through a cunning planned plot, the Joker allowed himself to be captured so as to have Dent and his fiancee kidnapped. He then offered batman a choice, save either Dent or Rachel as both are rigged to blow up at the same time. Batman choose Rachel while Gordon went for Dent.
Batman barely made it to the location in time to not find Rachel but Dent instead. Dent accidentally spilled gasoline around him and it caught fire when Batman was trying to rescue him. Dent fell to the gasoline cover floor and burnt his face. Gordon did not make it in time to save Rachel however.
While almost all of Gotham's law enforcement and Batman's attention on saving Dent, the joker escaped.
Joker paid Dent a visit later at the hospital and "brainwashed" the now scarred Dent into taking revenge for his loss. Joker succeeded and Harvey Dent became Twoface.
Twoface makes every decision via the toss of a coin. If the coin flip comes out unscarred, he would go with the "good" decision, but if the flip is on the scarred side of the coin he would go with the "evil" decision.

On to the review,
Twoface comes in the standard packing with a slip on cover. The internal flap opens to expose the accessories and figure on the tray. The extra clean suit Is attached to the back of the opening flap.

Out of the box Twoface comes with the standard hottoys truetype body. He spots his trademark upper burnt coat.

The head sculpts for this figure is top notch and the paint apps is flawless.

Harvey Dent: the skin color is soft and realistic and resembles Aaron eckhart

The costumes of this figure is also well tailored. The normal suit set is generic and represents the movie counterpart well.

Both set of costumes share the same under white shirt, neck tie (made of PVC material), pants, belt, and shoes.
The Harvey Dent suit has a coat that matches the pants colour . He also has a " I believe in Harvey Dent " campaign badge which is a nice addition.

Twoface Head sculpt: now this is the gem of this set. The sculpting on the burnt side is very detailed and it contrasts the normal side well. It gives you a very good idea of the nature of this character when you just look at his expressions. The unscarred side shows a more determined look. Colour apps is also good with this head sculpt especially the burnt side which still features some lingering flesh

The burnt coat for Twoface is also well made. The burnt Layer is made of a soft PVC material.

Weapons: a silver revolver with a corking hammer and a bullet chamber that can be swinged out for reloading.

This gun was given to Dent by the Joker in the hospital. This may be the "push" that Joker implied when he told Batman:" I took Gotham's white knight and I brought him down to our level. It wasn't hard you see, madness, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push."

Accessories: 2 coins and a figure stand. Both coins are identical(a light and a dark coloured side) the workmanship is remarkable for a coin so small...kudos to Hottoys. Display stand is generic with the under wire and Harvey Dent/Twoface name plate.

Articulations: Twoface uses a truetype body underneath thus he retains most of his articulations. The over coat only restricts his upper body articulation by a bit. His ankle connects directly to his shoes via ball joints.

He has a special left hand that is sculpted at a coin holding pose that is unique to this set also. The finishing is not good as the joint of the thumb is visible.

Overall impressions: I always liked Twoface back in my comic reading days. He is always unpredictable as everything is decided by a coin toss. He always spots a 2 colored suit also to match his dual personalities. Apart from that as Batman feels guilty for Harvey's plight, their clashes are always interesting. This figure is a great representation of Aaron Eckhart as Twoface in The Dark Knight, so fans of the Batman universe or collectors looking to complete this line of figures should add this to your collection. I got this as a addition to my Bat-villain collection.
So till my next post, ciao for now and have a nice day folks!!

Your fate on this coin....50-50 life's fair
