Sideshow Collectibles 1/6 Captain Rex Review

Hi guys back again today for a review of one of my most recent haul and long awaited release to my starswars collection. It's Captain Rex from Sideshow Collectibles. This is a must get to my 501st legion collection lol and it's finally here.

If you follow the clone wars digital animation series, Rex will be no stranger to you. He is the right hand of general Anakin Skywalker and execute orders directly from Skywalker.

A little Back story( as described on the box): Grown on Kamino from the DNA of bounty hunter Jango Fett, Clone Trooper Captain [CC-7567], nicknamed REX, was activated during the Clone Wars, the galxy spanning struggle between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Rex was a free thinking, cunning and tough warrior, yet despite his unusual individualism as a clone, Rex followed orders without question.
Serving as General Anakin Skywalker's second, Rex commands Torrent Company of the acclaimed 501st Legion of the Grand Army Of The Republic. Rex and his men were assigned to patrol the most lawless and dangerous sectors of the galaxy within the feared Outer Rim.

He comes in the standard magnetic open panel box that Sideshow Collectibles is well known for so nothing new here. The packaging is user friendly and when opened you can get a clear view of the figure and all the accessories inside. There is no twisty ties implemented so getting out and putting the figure back in will be a easy feat.

Headsculpt:
The human head sculpt is a "real" human version of the digital/animated counterpart. In my opinion this is a wise move on the part of Sideshow as this figure will blend in easily with all the Starwars universe figures they released so far.

He spots blonde shaved hair and a stern expression. Not the best out there but it'll do.

The Clone helmet sculpt is my favourite part of this figure. The markings are nice and the paint apps is also good.

It also comes with a sensor/tracker scope like Boba Fett which can swing downwards.. A pity that this helmet is a swap head not a real 'put on' helmet else it would have been perfect.

Both heads are easy to remove and attach to the neck post.

The body of this figure has a black linen body suit underneath the clone trooper armour.

The armour is segmented in separate joints to allow more range of articulation, a definite plus in this case.

The armour is the generic mould that Sideshow has used up till now but Rex comes with a few additions.

1st is his twin hostler on each side of his belt for his twin pistols. He has a shoulder armour/guard, He also spots a blue bordered black skirt.

Last but not least is his jet pack which attaches firmly to his back via a magnet. Ditto to Sideshow for that lol.

Paint apps of the amour, rank markings and weathering is also welly implemented.

This figure comes with a whole assortment of interchangeable hands, 13 hands in total! One of the most in my collection

If i'm not mistaken this is the 1st time Sideshow has included so many interchangeable hands for their Militaries of Starwars line.

The vast number of different hands will enable you to pose Rex in many different poses.

Again all these would have been perfect except for one problem: The pegs that connects into the wrists are very brittle. I noticed that the pegs can break easily if you don't exercise caution when exchanging them. I almost broke a few while doing this review ><.

The colouring of the hands are also nice and solid.

Two sets of interchangeable feet are also included in this set. The pegs for these feet re more sturdy and can be changed with ease. Weathering of the feet are also good.

Weapons: Rex comes with the standard clone trooper Blastech DC-15 Blaster Rifle and Blastech DC-15A Blaster . He also has a twin pair of Blastech DC-17 Pistols which is unique to Rex.

The Blastech DC-15A Blaster comes with a stock that can swing forwards when not in use.

The Blastech DC-15 Blaster Rifle also well sculpted and detailed.

The sculpt and detailing of the twin Blastech DC-17 Pistols is more simple and plain.

Colour apps for all the firearms are ok by my standards.

This display stand that comes with this figure is the generic Starwars stand with under crotch support.

Articulation: The joints of this figure is tight so he can hold most poses. As i mentioned above his armour is segmented so that is a big plus in the POAs department. The additional hands and legs will further more enhance your posing options.

Overall impressions: I'm very happy with this figure as i always liked Rex in the animation.This figure is a good life like representation of him. I would recommend him to all you clone wars freak out there, get him while he's still in the market. He's selling like hotcakes over at my favourite toyshop. He is also priced reasonably and has a ton of accessory so it's value for money. Hope this review has been helpful to you guys, Ciao for now....
