MORETOY Karas Review

Hi again, i just recently picked up 2 1/6 figures Karas by Moretoy and Ironman MK4 by Hottoys. But this one had my blood boiling hee hee. I just had to get it out of the box shoot shoot shoot :).
Karas is a six-part OVA. Each Karas episode was first televised in japan as a PPV program from March 2005 to August 2007. I fell in love with the anime when i first watched it on dvd. It features top notch 2D + 3D animation rendering & the after effects is astonishing.

"Karas tells the story of Otoha, a former yakuza, living in a fictional version of Shijuku, Tokyo populated by humans and yokai (Japanese spirits). He is one of the titular karas, humans appointed as superpowered agents of the land. Able to transform into a car, an aircraft, and an armored crusader; the skilled swordsman is to stop his corrupt predecessor, Eko, from taking over Tokyo. Supporting characters such as Eko's former henchman , Nue; the yōkai; and Homura, the karas of another city, help Otoha in his quest. A concurrent side-story focuses on humans affected by Eko's scheme." <taken from wikipedia.org>

Initially a few years back i saw online a proto type of Karas in the 8" SIC style line but it went quiet after a while. So when i saw this 12" beauty at one of my favourite toy shops 'The Falcon's Hanger'...i just had to have it lol.

The box is very well made with magnetic catch on the side. The front panel opens to reveal a brief description of the back story of the anime on the left and the actual figure & accessory is displayed on the right.

Karas comes with two clenched fist and 3 more interchangeable hands. There is also a nicely sculpted round stand with the Karas word on top. Other accessories include his sword, scabbard and a mini pre-release version of his sword i guess.
The details on the sword & scabbard is spot on including the chain that binds the weapon before yurine authorises combat. The awakened emblem on the scabbard is also nicely sculpted and painted.

The figure is a work of art! It has a skin tight leather suit

beneath his body armor.

The head piece is beautifully sculpted as is the body armor and the paint job is also top notch
On his back is 3 claw like holder for attaching his sword (either forms).


The joints are tight  so he has no problem standing without the stand.

Next is the only downside of this figure... the articulation. As i mentioned before he's wearing a skin tight leather suit so he's already restricted plus his armor  it becomes even less room for movement especially the shoulder area.

I tried a variety of poses here  but don't dare to go extreme as i'm afraid i'll damage the suit underneath :(

By the way did i mention that he is HUGE? Here's a picture of him facing off with the Berserker lol.

With all said, i'll say this is a high quality toy from a new HK company Moretoy and it's quality is almost as good as Hottoy's. Attention was paid to details and materials used is also good. The Packaging is also rock solid.I'm very happy with this purchase and i strongly recommend this to all Karas fans ha ha what are you waiting for?:P I would recommend the anime to everyone else...it's an instant classic hee hee.
